Hereford

Hereford is, not surprisingly, the main town in Herefordshire.  Like Hay, it is on the River Wye.

Hereford Cathedral is home to Mappa Mundi, a map of the world as it was understood in the 13th century. http://www.herefordcathedral.org/visit-us/mappa-mundi-1

This is the River Wye between the Hay and Cusop Dingle, where we are staying.  Hay is in Wales.  Cusop Dingle is in England.  The river is the border.

There are no house numbers and few street names in Cusop Dingle. I suspect this is an attempt to confuse Welsh raiders.

Hay Castle is in the centre of town.  It is almost a ruin, but someone just paid two million pounds for it. Its chimneys are visible just below the skyline.
